M y family used to take camping trips to Yosemite National Park. Sometimes we would go with other Pakistani American families, and sometimes it would just be our family. I love these memories of camping because our version of camping involved lots of biryani and Hindi film songs. Instead of making s'mores, we used to roast potatoes with masala over the campfire. I love that we had our own uniquely South Asian American version of camping, and these early memories of national parks instilled a life-long love for nature, hiking, and camping for me.
