S ai and I flew down to Portland from Ottawa, ON and rented a car to drive to Bend, OR for a work conference Sai was attending there. We decided to make a road trip out of it, stopping around major destinations in Oregon. On our way to Bend, we checked out the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, and walked around downtown Salem, having dinner there before continuing the journey to Bend. In Bend, Sai attended his 2-day conference while I explored the picturesque little town. I hiked up Pilot Butte (an extinct volcano), went out to Tumalo Falls, and learned about the local wildlife in Oregon at High Desert Museum. After the conference wrapped up, Sai and I took a different route back to Portland, stopping at Smith Rock State Park for breakfast, driving up Mount Hood and having lunch at Timberline Lodge, and watching the sunset at Multnomah Falls, ending up back in Portland. We spent the next 2 days exploring the city, and even drove out west to Cannon Beach, before flying back home to Ottawa. We definitely plan on making another trip to Oregon - it's a gorgeous state!
